People’s Declaration – A Common Manifesto for All Democratic Forces?

Just on the eve of the Chinese New Year, a document called People’s Declaration (English, Malay, Chinese), together with a People’s Voice, was launched at Raja Petra Kamaruddin’s Malaysia Today. It was also featured on Haris Ibrahim’s People’s Parliament.

The People’s Declaration is meant to be a manifesto that sums up the idea for all democratic forces, from the civil society, opposition parties to even BN parties.

The latest development is that Parti Keadilan Rakyat has just signed up to the People’s Declaration. Will PAS and DAP do so? Will any BN parties do so?

  1. IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF MALAYSIA AND OUR CHILDREN, PLEASE FORWARD THIS CHAIN EMAIL AROUND SO THAT WE CAN SEE THAT THE BARISAN NASIONAL DOES NOT GET ITS 2/3 MAJORITY THIS TIME ROUND

THERE ARE ABOUT 11 MILLION VOTERS AND ABOUT 16 MILLION INTERNET USERS, AND IF EACH OF US CAN FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO AS MANY FELLOW MALAYSIANS AS POSSIBLE, IE THOSE WHO CARE, WE WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE A STATEMENT AND ALSO MAKE A CHANGE THIS TIME ROUND

IF EACH OF US CAN MAKE SURE THAT AT LEAST 2 FRIENDS FORWARD THIS CHAIN EMAIL, AND IF THIS EMAIL GETS FORWARDED 23 TIMES, WE WILL BE ABLE TO REACH OUT TO 8,388,608 PEOPLE (IE 2 ^ 23)

OF COURSE, WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO REACH OUT TO ALL THE 8,388,608, AND NOT ALL THE 8,388,608 MAY VOTE THE SAME WAY, BUT AT LEAST WE CAN HOPEFULLY REACH OUT TO A GOOD NUMBER OF VOTERS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE SITTING ON THE FENCE

SO, DO YOUR BIT RIGHT NOW!

ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS TO FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO YOUR FRIENDS WHO CARE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF MALAYSIA AND OUR CHILDREN!

AND ON THE EVE OF 8 MARCH, FORWARD THIS “VOTE FOR THE FUTURE OF MALAYSIA AND OUR CHILDREN, VOTE OUT BARISAN NASIONAL, VOTE IN BARISAN RAKYAT!” MESSAGE BY SMS

  2. The Malaysian Rakyat generally prefers not to state their political views and inclination openly, and given the fact that the Barisan Nasional is well-funded and has been distorting the picture through state-controlled media, it may well be that voters can be swung back to the Barisan Nasional.

To counter this, we must start a VIRAL SMS Campaign. Given that the Rakyat are generally fearful of being tracked down by the Government for spreading news via SMS, it is best that this SMS Campaign be started by politicians from the Barisan Rakyat. The more SMSes the Rakyat receives, the braver they will become. The more SMSes the Rakyat receives, the more we will be able to BUILD MOMENTUM to counter the distortion created by the Barisan Nasional, and hence deny Barisan Nasional of the 2/3 majority. The more SMSes the Rakyat receives, the more the Rakyat will be convinced of voting out the Barisan Nasional and voting in the Barisan Rakyat.

So, start now by sending the following SMS to all Barisan Rakyat politicians whom you know: “VOTE FOR THE FUTURE OF MALAYSIA AND OUR CHILDREN, VOTE OUT BARISAN NASIONAL, VOTE IN BARISAN RAKYAT! Forward this SMS to at least 2 caring fellow Malaysians”

Or you can send any other SMS messages which you may wish to create, but keep it short, so that it will be easy for the Rakyat to subsequently forward it to their family and friends.

Once again, LET US VOTE FOR THE FUTURE OF MALAYSIA AND OUR CHILDREN, VOTE OUT BARISAN NASIONAL, VOTE IN BARISAN RAKYAT!

  3. EXACTLY this is what i mean by the Art of Tao!Barisan Rakyat, gather your forces, build a force,at least an average size tsunami to floor the ‘giant’.Suggestion:tap the greater energy of the so-called Mat Rempits to fly your BR flags.tell them the BN has not help them all these years,hv they benefited anything after all?but tell them IF BR could form the next government,DS Anwar will promise to help turn them into new national heroes by listening to their woes(if any) & draw up plenty of positive programme to assist them to contribute back to society thus Mat Rempits will be history & a new identity will be bestowed upon them in return.

  4. I have been concerned that my Dad who had passed away 16 years ago may still be on the SPR register, and took it upon myself to check the same. Fortunately, he is not in the register.

But this does not mean that the SPR register is clean. So, let us spread the word around, to get fellow Malaysians to check if their deceased family members and/or relatives are on the SPR register. All you have to do is to find their IC Nos, and go to http://www.spr.gov.my to check it.

Do it right now! We must have a clean register and fair elections!!!

People Power in the Philippines, South Korea, Kenya and Spain through SMS made a big difference; it helped change governments.

We should use this technology RIGHT NOW, as we only have 4 days to go. Though I have received some SMS messages (all of which were in favour of the Barisan Rakyat), I personally feel that the SMS is not being used enough. This is in part, I believe, attributable to the fact that Malaysians generally prefer not to state their political views openly for obvious reasons (eg sabotage or punishment by the ruling coalition).

Hence, one best way to get this going is to get the Barisan Rakyat candidates to start and push the campaign. It is only when people feel that there is a MOMENTUM building that they will be BRAVE enough to forward the SMSes, and vote the right way.

Given that there are easily 200 ceramahs (for the 222 constituencies) going on every night / day throughout the whole country, including those in the day time, and assuming that at each ceramah there is at least 500 Rakyat in attendance, and if each of the candidates and speakers ask the Rakyat to create and/or forward received SMSes to at least 2 friends, we will be able to reach out to at least 800,000 Rakyat (= 200 ceramah x 500 Rakyat x 2 friends x 4 days). This is assuming that the SMSes messages stop at the first level, which I believe it will not, especially if one were to receive say 5 SMSes a day. I believe that once each concerned Rakyat receives 5 to 10 SMSes a day, he or she will become bolder and will believe that the time has indeed come for a change.

So far, I have attended 3 ceramahs, and I have spoken to 2 of the candidates, and they told me that the SMS strategy is part of their strategy. Perhaps they have been too busy to catch my point, in that, as speakers, each and every one of them should tell the Rakyat present to start a MAKKHAL SAKTHI / PEOPLE POWER SMS CAMPAIGN, which will give us hope to change the government, if not, to deny Barisan Nasional of its 2/3 Parliament control.

Chin Huat, if you and fellow bloggers have direct access to the Barisan Rakyat candidates and other speakers, give them a call or SMS them to ask them to end their speeches by reminding the Rakyat to join in the SMS Campaign. I have prepared a SMS (below) which you can use to forward to the Barisan Rakyat candidates and speakers whom you know.

The country has never experienced such an opportunity to ensure a possible change in government, and let us continue to push for this change.

    Sincerely
    Jim

I do not have RPK’s email, may I ask if you would be able to forward my posting above (ie on asking the Barisan Rakyat candidates and speakers to move Rakyat present at their ceramahs to push the PEOPLE POWER SMS CAMPAIGN) to Raja Petra, and hopefully he will be able to post this on Malaysia-Today so that this idea can reach out to more Rakyat?

If more fellow bloggers, netizens and Rakyat were to reach out to more candidates and speakers, and if the candidates and speakers were to receive this suggestion from their many supporters, they will begin to realise the power of this idea. And once many candidates and speakers push this SMS Campaign, the ball will start rolling, and we may be able to see results which we all have been hoping for.

    Thanks again.

    Sincerely
    Jim

Have forwarded that to him. Sorry for not replying here early.
